A good question for this blog is what do characters' actions, moves, words and thoughts reveal about themselves? Well answering that question is my objective for this blog. I will start with the main character: Cap. He is a very good boy with values because he went to school and he was very kind with everyone. Also he doesn't know abything about school becuase he was very confused with everything. Another character that his personality is evident, is Zach. He is the classic school bully who everyone love except the nerds or the freakies. This is showed when he decide to postulate Cap to be president, when he didn't know anything about he charge. Then we have mrs. Donelly she is very a good person who like peace and we can know that from that she was part of the same hippie society as Cap but this was some years ago.

You may ask what does the setting have to do with story and the title. Well, as I said before the central event that happens on this story is that a hippie came for the first time into school. Actually the setting on this story have lots of importance on this story. The setting is not just the place where the story happens, it also include the time when it is happening. The story is narrated in our time so we can understand more the circumstances on it. So the setting contribute to the book story by describing what would happen on our school if some totally new like Cap get in our school.

Usually the word school we don't used as a verb. However, on this book we find that it IS a verb. It is the action of making someone to go to school. On the story we see that Cap have to go to a school, even he did't knew anything about how it would or should be. The story talks about all the adventures that happen to him during this process. We know sometimes school is a complicated place for us. Well if we have a little bit of empathy with the main character then we should know that for him it was even worst. Well the title schooled have everything to do with the theme of the story.

Actually I like this book because every chapter it change of narrators. For example we started the story with Cap. As we continue with the story we know new characters and those characters continue with the story but with their perspective. When Cap go into the school, the first one that narrated that moment was Zach narrating what was happening and describing his thoughts at the same time. I like this because you can see clearly the intimate way of thinking of each character without losing the theme and the circumstances of the the story, or the central events that happen. I also like it because they do not say what happens in the story directly, they let it for your inference. For example, when Cap get into the school school, the narrator did not say directly "Cap get into the school." He just describes a new guy that is weird. You can infer it is Cap. However, he say the name at the end of the chapter.

Until this part of the book I already found a conflict. The last post I wrote about Cap being new in a school and that he did not know anything about an school system.  I also mention that Zach is the popular guy that bullied others. Well I found out that the next next one to be bullied is Cap. What Zach did to Cap was very rude. He enroll Cap for president and he make sure that anyone else would go for the place so Cap could win. As I said before, Cap did not know anything so Zach is aware of that and he lie Cap so he can do more work. For example, he told him that he had to learn the names of everyone on the school because he was the president.

I have read the first 5 chapters of my book “schooled”. At the beginning Cap and his grandmother are living on a hippie society. There’s just one thing, just they both live on that society. Cap’s parents have died so they live alone on a hose far away from city and civilization. Then something occur Rain, Cap’s grandmother, she had an accident and she had to go to hospital. Now Cap has to go with Ms. Donnelly lived in that hippie society when was young but now she lives on the city and has a daughter. Cap now is schooled. The first day of school he didn’t understand anything about what was happening around him. Here we know two more characters. Zach Powers is the popular guy of the school who everyone loves and the fear of the nerds. We also meet Hugh Winkleman who is the typical freaky nerd the loves star trek who hates Zach. Now, because of his “rareness” Cap is the one who will be bullied. In this chapters Cap mentions that he like Mrs. Donnelly’s daughter but she is rude with him.

I choose "schooled" for my semester project because one time I went into my school library and the title stole my attention. Then I start reading, it is difficult for me to finish reading a book because I do not have time but this assignment will make me read it. The first chapters of the book are very interesting. I like that sometimes I feel like the main character Cap. I identify my self with him.
